Mayor Eldridge Hawkins, Jr. urges citizen support for Big “O” Booster Club

Statement by Mayor Hawkins:

“The Big "0" BoosterClub of Orange is a non‑profit organization dedicated to serving the
needs of the Orange High School students and the young adult community. The Big "0" Booster Club's Annual Awards Banquet will be held Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 6:00 PM at the Appian Way, 619 Langdon Street, Orange, NJ. Tickets are $35.00. I urge residents of Orange to attend and to become involved in helping this valuable organization. I want to commend Council Member Tency Eason for her hard and effective work on behalf of the Club.

Organized in 1976, the club was originally formed to honor the 1976 Orange High School State Championship Basketball Team. Since then the Big O Booster Club has expanded its activities to honor all graduates of the current senior class participating in extra and
co-curricular programs, providing tutorial services, presenting the Jesse Miles,  Galloway Polhill, Jr. and Freddie Polhill Community Services Awards, providing financial backing for community and school projects, and offering at present six (6) $500 scholarship grants.”
