PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

The Junior Academy will consist of a field trip, lectures, presentations, and hands-on activities.  

There will also be a physical training component.

The Curriculum includes areas such as:

• General Educational and other requirements to become a Law Enforcement Officer
  
  
• Introduction to Criminal Justice and the Criminal Justice System
  
  
• Juvenile Justice System
  
  
• Fingerprinting and Identification
  
  
• K-9 and Bomb Squads
  
  
• Gang Awareness and Identification
  
  
• Drug Awareness
  
  
• Internet Safety
  
  
• Arson and Fire Safety
  
  
• First Aid
  
  
• Traffic Enforcement
  
  
• Crime Scenes – Field Trip to Crime Lab
  
  
• Unarmed Self Defense
  
  
• Driving Simulator
  
  
• FATS(Firearms Training Simulator)
  

The schedule will include contest, relay races, and games.  Junior trainees will participate in squad formation and roll call each day, along with lectures, activities, and physical training.

Each  successful Academy graduate will receive a certificate of completion on the last day of class, during a pizza party.

Note: Each child may bring a brown bag with lunch. Drinks and snacks will be provided.  Refrigerators are available for lunch storage.
