Orange Youth Football and Cheerleading kicks off season

Mayor Eldridge Hawkins, Jr. announced that on September 11, 2011, the Orange Youth Football and Cheerleading teams will open the 2011 season at home (Bell Stadium) on the tenth anniversary of 9-11. The four teams (Storms, Hurricanes, Cyclones, Tornadoes) are coming off a remarkable 2010 season that witnessed for the first time in Orange Youth Football history all four teams reaching the championship games of the very tough Twin Valley Football Conference of the New Jersey Unlimited Weight Youth Football Association.

This year the Hurricanes who will benefit from gaining new players from the defending Champion Storms.

Mayor Hawkins said, “The Orange Youth Football teams have long been a source of pride for our community. This year, we are especially proud of their extraordinary 2010 season.  I invite all to come out and enjoy the home games beginning at 10:30am on Sunday. “

“This is a very talented team with an explosive “no huddle” offense, many teams within the league are fully aware of this team’s capabilities and are trying to scheme up defenses to stop the Hurricanes”, says Mr. Keith Pressey, Supervisor of Orange Recreation.

As always we anticipate solid seasons from all our teams, our Tornadoes look to get back on track after having their 21 game winning streak snapped in a hard fought Championship battle against Jersey City. Our Cyclones look to surpass their success in reaching the championship although coming up short. Their confidence is high and assures a victory this time.
